RCS — Recycled Claim Standard
Recycled Claim Standard 2.0
Carries no social, environmental or chemical requirements at all — it verifies the recycled percentage and stops there. Suppliers commonly offer it when GRS was asked for, so check which of the two the certificate in front of you actually names.
What it covers
Chain of custody for recycled input content only. Verifies that the stated recycled percentage is real and traceable.
What it does not cover
Unlike GRS it carries no social, environmental or chemical requirements at all. A supplier who offers RCS when you asked for GRS is offering a materially weaker certificate — this substitution is common and is worth checking every time.
Scope and exclusions are recorded from the issuing body’s own published documentation. A certificate covers what its scope statement says and nothing beyond it.
