What it covers
Input-stream chemical management: restricted substances are controlled before they enter production rather than tested for afterwards. Covers worker safety, water and air emissions at approved sites.
What it does not cover
Not a recycled-content or bio-content standard. bluesign® APPROVED applies to a component; bluesign® PRODUCT applies to a finished article with at least 90% approved textile input — the two are routinely quoted interchangeably and are not the same claim.
Scope and exclusions are recorded from the issuing body’s own published documentation. A certificate covers what its scope statement says and nothing beyond it.
